  • Ellis plays Planet Bluegrass' Folks Festival a month before the 2013 flood. The Minneapolis singer-songwriter is scheduled to perform on Friday, March 27, at the Planet's Wildflower Pavilion.

Planet Bluegrass presents first Wildflower concert since flood

Planet Bluegrass in Lyons was hit hard by the 2013 flood, and the destruction of its Wildflower Pavilion was, at more than $1.5 million, its single biggest loss. The Planet rebuilt the Pavilion, and today it celebrates the official reopening of the Wildflower Concert Series with a performance at the venue. Ellis, a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Planet Bluegrass is familiar territory for Ellis, who performed during the Planet’s Folks Festival a month before […]

Being a mom isn’t slowing Ani DeFranco

By Quentin Young ‘I always joked that I would make a great dad someday,” said Ani DiFranco. “Be careful what you wish for.” The folk singer is currently on tour, talking by phone this week somewhere near the Grand Tetons. SPELLS is out of control at SXSW 2015

Ben Roy sings “I’m out of control” in a way that makes you believe him. His band SPELLS, from Denver, dresses in matching clothes, but Roy’s approach to performance gives the impression of opposing order. He jumped off the stage at the start of the band’s Colorado Music Party set, and he didn’t look back. The Party took place at the 512 during SXSW 2015 in Austin, Texas.
