    Unexpected appearance during Dani Grant interview at SXSW 2015

    Dani Grant, executive director of the music nonprofit SpokesBUZZ in Fort Collins, Colo., gave Second Story Garage an overview of the Colorado Music Party on Friday, March 20. The interview took place at a Music Party reception on the roof of Parkside in Austin, Texas, during SXSW 2015. The Music Party included 120 artists, 102 of them from Colorado, Grant said.     SPELLS is out of control at SXSW 2015

    Ben Roy sings “I’m out of control” in a way that makes you believe him. His band SPELLS, from Denver, dresses in matching clothes, but Roy’s approach to performance gives the impression of opposing order. He jumped off the stage at the start of the band’s Colorado Music Party set, and he didn’t look back. The Party took place at the 512 during SXSW 2015 in Austin, Texas.

    Branded Bandits make off with the show, SXSW 2015

    Boulder is full of Americana and bluegrass, but Branded Bandits offers a merciful dose of good hard mean rock ‘n’ roll. The Boulder trio, fronted by the brother-sister left-right punch of John and LuLu Demitro, gave one of the slammingest sets at the Colorado Music Party, during SXSW 2015, at the 512 in Austin, Texas, and it would have been appropriate for them to have concluded their show with a curt “you’re welcome.”

    The Railsplitters play ‘My World’ during SXSW

    The Colorado Music Party, a five-day showcase of Mile High musicians during SXSW 2015, featured a mini-showcase of four Boulder bands on Saturday, March 21. The featured bands were The Sweet Lillies, Rocktin Grove, The Railsplitters and Cold River City. This is a clip of bluegrass and Americana band The Railsplitters playing their song “My World,” by banjo player Dusty Rider. The set took place on the rooftop stage of the 512, on Sixth Street in Austin, Texas.
