    Wasteland Hop at SXSW, hip hop from the Fort

    Fort Collins hip hop band Wasteland Hop played a couple of sets over the course of the five-day Colorado Music Party in Austin, Texas, during SXSW 2015. This clip comes from their Thursday set on the first-floor stage of the 512. The Hop’s sound is reminiscent of Denver hip hop band Flobots — it’s accessible to a broad audience and features plenty of live instruments.

    Heather Maloney during SXSW at the 512

    Heather Maloney was one of several non-Colorado performers at the Colorado Music Party during SXSW 2015. Her Thursday evening set was sponsored by 7S Management, a Denver-based firm the represents her. Maloney, who is from Northampton, Mass., played solo, and her indie-folk sound and storytelling style of songwriting had a precious, antique quality to it.

On Saturday, a piece of the Party was devoted to a set of four Boulder bands.
