    Chris Dismuke covers ‘Royals’ during SXSW

    Denver’s Chris Dismuke has a memorable voice, and he plays the acoustic bass, and he plays the bass like a guitar. He’s an original. Dismuke was one of the featured artists at the Colorado Music Party during SXSW this week, and he pleased the crowd with a chill cover of Lorde’s “Royals.” The audience sang along, and at the end Dismuke feigned surprise that everyone knew “his” lyrics. Dismuke was accompanied by Longmont guitarist Daniel Luthjohn.

    As a member of Yonder Mountain String Band, Jeff Austin became well known to bluegrass and jamband fans. He left YMSB last year, and this year he’s kicking his solo career into high gear.
