Run River North chat with Quentin Young

Run River North sit down for an interview with Quentin Young at Second Story Garage music video studio in Boulder, Colorado.

When you hear Run River North for the first time, you might think to yourself, “This band could really go somewhere.” Their songs are just a little bit better than other bands’ songs, their singing is a notch superior, their playing is a touch more exciting. Everything they play is easy to like, and note after note, verse after verse, their music proves to be worth the listen from one end of the catalog to the other.

Members Alex Hwang on guitar, Sally Kang on keyboards, Daniel Chae on violin, Jennifer Rim on violin, Joseph Chun on bass and John Chong on drums are from the San Fernando Valley in California. It’s been a busy year for the band. They released their self-titled debut album, their song “Growing Up” was prominent in the Reese Witherspoon film “The Good Lie” and a video for their track “Fight to Keep” was premiered by Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco. The video stars actor Diedrich Bader. The band has been on tour almost nonstop, including international dates, and they passed through Colorado twice just since August.

The members are all offspring of Korean immigrants. But this aspect of their identity hardly defines them. Rather, it adds depth and perspective to their music. When they visited the Garage, Run River North performed “Beetle,” “Excuses” and “Lying Beast.”

What they brought us: A doll representing Glenn, a character in “The Walking Dead.” The presentation became a touching farewell during the band’s interview with Quentin.
