Second Story Garage: I Sank Molly Brown perform ‘All Mom Blues Band’

I Sank Molly Brown perform “All Mom Blues Band” at Second Story Garage.

“If you sat down at a bar with the three of us, you’d say that our music sounds like the way we talk. We all gravitate to elementary-style jokes, but we talk about this existential stuff.”

That’s what I Sank Molly Brown’s Dylan Self was telling Ashley just last month, and the Denver post-punk band proved that very true while they were in the Garage. The back-and-forth between Self, Caleb Tardio and John Moses goes nonstop and bleeds into their songs. They played “All Mom Blues Band,” “Sticks and Stones” and “Slap ‘N’ Pickle,” then made weird noises and posed for a bad family portrait in their interview with Ashley.

Check out the videos, and we bet you’ll want to catch them live. Your next chance will be at the Larimer Lounge on Oct. 17, when they play with Tera Melos, Zorch and Holophase.

What they brought us: A book titled “The Cosmic Christ,” which, according to the book jacket, “is both the source of development within the universe and its goal.” Further reading has only increased our confusion.
