BANDITS perform ‘Tear You Down’

BANDITS perform their song “Tear You Down” at Second Story Garage in Boulder, Colorado.

Boulder is pretty good at producing rock bands, and by “rock,” we mean the in-your-face, guitar-heavy, leather-clad variety — you know, the good kind. For a prime example, look no farther than BANDITS.

Brother and sister John and LuLu Demitro share front-stage duties, he on guitar, she on bass, and rarely has a pair of siblings seemed so natural as rock ‘n’ roll comrades-in-arms. On drums is Andrew Oakley, who’s establishing himself as one of the local go-to heavy hitters. He previously performed with another screaming rock act, West Water Outlaws, and he moonlights with the fashion-savvy delta-rock duo A Shadow of Jaguar.

Until recently, BANDITS went by Branded Bandits, and though their name has shrunk, their music is growing. The band, which was on tour in the Midwest in recent weeks, is planning to release new music and a new video soon. Their next local show is Friday, Nov. 13, at the Hi-Dive on South Broadway in Denver. They’re playing with The Outfit and Slow Caves, both veterans of the Garage.

In the meantime, check out the BANDITS’ session at Second Story Garage, where they performed “Kill Tonight,” “Tear You Down” and “Wheels.” Check back to see their chat with Quentin about their new music and a certain revealing handbill they put up around Austin, Texas, during the 2015 South by Southwest music festival.
