Colorado presence felt at SXSW

Colorado artists have taken over a music venue in middle of Sixth Street in the heart of the SXSW music showcase. They’ve even announced their presence by raising a Colorado flag over the venue, the 512.

Organized by the Fort Collins music nonprofit SpokesBUZZ, the Colorado Music Party features more than 120 artists from Colorado or with connections to the state. On Wednesday, the rooftop deck featured a whole slate of hip-hop artists. A selection of Fort Collins bands are scheduled to perform on Friday, and Boulder musicians have their own mini-showcase on Saturday.

The music portion of the annual SXSW in downtown Austin, Texas, began Tuesday and runs through Sunday at various venues. Founded in 1987, the festival has become one of the largest and most influential annual music events in the world.
