Second Story Garage: Dead Winter Carpenters

Dead Winter Carpenters perform “Good Old Time” at Second Story Garage music video studio in Boulder, Colorado.

Dead Winter Carpenters share a certain country-rock duality with their world-famous California compatriots, the Eagles, but the spirit of the Carpenters’ music is more mountain trail than rural road. Maybe that’s why the band is gaining fans in Colorado, one of its stomping grounds.

The Carpenters were in Colorado in late February for several shows in the region, including a set at eTown Hall in Boulder and during the inaugural Meeting on the Mountain at Cervantes’ Masterpiece in Denver. The North Lake Tahoe-based band also stopped by the Garage and offered live versions of their songs “Good Old Time,” “Holding A Winning Hand” and “Love Amongst Thieves.”

Dead Winter Carpenters includes Jenni Charles on fiddle, Dave Lockhart on bass, Jesse Dunn on rhythm guitar, Bryan Daines on lead guitar and Brian Huston on drums. They plan a return to Colorado in June for the Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Festival.
