Rocktin Grove perform ‘Restless’
Rocktin Grove perform “Restless” at Second Story Garage music video studio in Boulder Colorado.
The guys in Rocktin Grove are all-around creative. Guitarist Wilson Harwood makes jewelry out of guitar strings. Theo Farver made his own guitar (he’s playing it in the band’s Garge session, the one that kind of looks like a gold Gibson Les Paul).
When the six band members get together, they make rock music with touches of bluegrass, jamband and roots, and this is the creation that’s winning them fans along the Colorado Front Range.
The Boulder band has been performing in the Denver/Boulder area since 2010 and is becoming familiar with the stages at the Fox Theatre and other premier venues in the region. It also was featured as part of the Colorado Music Party during South by Southwest in Austin in March.
Rocktin Grove seems to have captured a particularly Boulder sound in which Jerry Garcia, Bill Monroe and Mumford & Sons can be heard in the background.
Members Jon Kimbell, Will Viitanen, Adrian Flynt, Garrett Cropsey, Harwood and Farver visited the studio in April and performed the songs “Higher,” “Living Cities” and “Restless,” then talked with Quentin about all kinds of things.
What they brought us: A band poster and a guitar-string bracelet made by Harwood.
