Second Story Garage:
Ark Life
Ark Life perform “Have To Leave You Now” at Second Story Garage in Boulder, Colorado.
On the morning of Aug. 5, the Denver band Ark Life packed up and hit the road for a summer tour. Forty-five minutes into the trip, they stopped at their first engagement: Second Story Garage.
We got to hear the first set of the quintet’s tour, which was pretty cool, because the band is one of those acts that people are talking about in the Denver music scene. You’ll see and hear why in our videos. The band has this buoyant energy that recalls the early-’70s Rolling Stones, and their interpersonal synergy is infectious.
With Anna Morsett on bass, Lindsay Giles on keys, Ben Desoto on drums and Jesse Elliott and Natalie Tate on guitars, the band previewed music from their first album, The Dream of You & Me, which they recently released. They played “Let Your Heart Break,” “Some Unheroic Hill” and “Have to Leave You Now,” then talked with Quentin about their tour, their new album and other cool things.
What they brought us: A pair of old shoes that Morsett had custom-made at a music festival.
