Fierce Bad Rabbit perform ‘Living Asleep’
Fierce Bad Rabbit perform “Living Asleep” at Second Story Garage in Boulder, Colorado.
The 1906 Beatrix Potter book “The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit” is about a rabbit who, well, is fierce and bad. He steals a carrot and gets his tail shot off. It’s a strange little story, but it provided a Fort Collins indie folk-rock group with one of the best band names around.
And the name’s not wasted. Fierce Bad Rabbit is among the pool of Front Range bands that have real potential to take off nationwide. They’re cool enough for the connoisseur but melodic enough for the masses. But before they get all big, we got them in the Garage.
They’ve already recorded a couple of albums and EPs, and they’re set to release a new album, Living Asleep, on Sept. 23. We’ve long had the band on our list of acts we wanted to do a session with, and this summer turned out to be the perfect time. The band previewed some Living Asleep material, and now we can offer our viewers a glimpse into FBR’s latest effort. They played the title track, “Living Asleep,” “Do You Want Me Now?” and “Crystal Ball,” then participated in a zany interview with guest host Sam Goldner.
What they brought us: An extremely cool, autographed, graphic composite of characters from the band’s official video for “Do You Want Me Now?”
