Shannon McNally chats with Ashley Dean

Shannon McNally sits down with Ashley at Second Story Garage.

Shannon McNally has made a name for herself with her distinctly smoky voice and country-tinged blues-rock, but her latest project isn’t just about her.

When we had her in the Garage, she was on the road in support of Small Town Talk, a record on which she plays the tried-and-true music of singer/songwriter Bobby Charles. She worked with Charles himself and recorded the album with the help of the legendary Dr. John, and she called in guest appearances from Derek Trucks, Luther Dickinson and Vince Gill.

In the studio, we heard some of her original music — “Bohemian Wedding Prayer,” “Can’t Pin A Color” and “Rock My Soul” — and Shannon talked with Ashley about paying tribute to Charles’ music.

What she brought us: Her team forgot to bring along a poster, but we’re expecting one in the mail. We love mail.
